Turkish Airlines Blacklists 332 Passengers, Files Lawsuits Against Offenders
Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced that it has blacklisted 332 passengers from flights for engaging in unruly behavior and has filed lawsuits against those who committed crimes.
In a statement on social media, THY General Manager Bilal Ekşi said, "A small number of our 'unruly' passengers are upsetting both us and themselves. Unfortunately, 332 of our passengers who violated the rules have been temporarily banned from flying.
In addition, lawsuits have been filed against those who committed crimes. For the safety of all of us, please follow the flight rules."
What Are Airline Blacklists and How Are They Created?
When passengers purchase tickets, they enter into a contract with the airline. This contract includes provisions for how passengers will be penalized for unruly behavior. Airlines maintain blacklists of passengers who have violated their rules.
What Is a Blacklist?
A blacklist is a list of passengers who have been banned from flying by an airline, either temporarily or permanently. Passengers on a blacklist will not be allowed to board flights, even if they have purchased tickets.
Reasons for Being Blacklisted
Excessive alcohol consumption before a flight

Engaging in behavior that jeopardizes flight safety

How Are Airline Blacklists Created?
Passengers who engage in any of the above behaviors may be placed on an airline's blacklist and banned from flying. The information of banned passengers is stored in the airline's database. If a banned passenger attempts to purchase a ticket, the airline will be notified and the ticket will be canceled.
