Piper M700 FURY Receives FAA Certification

Piper Aircraft, Inc. announced today that its new flagship aircraft, the Piper M700 Fury, has received type certification from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Received on February 29, 2024, this certification represents an important milestone for Piper Aircraft and follows the announcement of the new aircraft on February 6, 2024. Customer deliveries will begin immediately.

With a maximum speed of 301 knots and a maximum range of 1,424 nautical miles, the M700 FURY is Piper's fastest single-engine aircraft in more than 87 years. This cabin-class turboprop aircraft is equipped with a 700 shaft horsepower Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 engine, and the latest version of Garmin's G3000 cockpit is offered with Garmin's Emergency Auto-Landing feature as part of Piper's HALO safety system.

Highlights of the M700 Fury's performance include:

  • Takeoff Performance — The TOFL distance over 50 ft. obstacle at STD Day MGTOW is a class-leading 1,994 ft., representing a 24 percent improvement over the M600/SLS it replaces. This TOFL performance is also 1,198 ft over a competing single-engine jet. (38 percent) shorter.
  • First Climb — After MGTOW takeoff, the M700 FURY performs 32 percent better than the M600/SLS with a class-leading 2,048 fpm climb rate.
  • Climbing to Altitude — After settling into the climb, the M700 FURY reaches a comfortable FL250 altitude in 13.9 minutes (34 percent faster than the M600/SLS), covers only a short distance of 34 miles (35 percent less distance than its predecessor) and consumes only 97 lbs. of fuel (25 percent less fuel than the M600/SLS and nearly as competitive as a single-engine jet 50 percent less fuel).
  • Cruising — maximum cruise speed of 301 knots.
  • Landing Performance — When landing over a 50 ft. obstacle, the M700 FURY maintains class-leading performance, achieving a 26 percent reduction over the M600/SLS and half the ground clearance of some competitors.
We are very excited to announce the certification of the M700 Fury in the United States by the FAA, just one month after its announcement,” said John Calcagno, President and CEO of Piper Aircraft. “And there is more. FURY is just the first step in the next generation of our M-Class range, so watch how Piper's M-Class expands both above and below what we offer today.”

International approvals of the M700 Fury for Canada (TCCA), Europe (EASA), the United Kingdom (CAA) and Brazil (ANAC) will be completed in the second half of 2024, with customer deliveries in these regions beginning before the end of the year.
