Defense and Aviation Sector Sets New Export Record
The defense and aviation sector achieved exports in the first 2 months of 2024 with an increase of approximately 12% compared to the previous year.
Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün shared the data on the export volume realized in the defense and aviation sector in the first 2 months of 2024. Görgün announced that a total of 632.783 million dollars worth of sales were made in the defense and aviation sector, which is one of Turkey's important export items, in the first 2 months of 2024. This sales volume shows an increase of approximately 12% in the first 2 months of 2024 compared to the previous year.
Data from Previous Years
According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data, the defense and aviation sector realized exports worth 330 million 248 thousand dollars in January 2024. According to TİM data, the Turkish defense and aviation sector realized exports worth 278 million 885 thousand dollars in January 2023. In other words, the sector had achieved an 18% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
The Turkish defense and aviation sector realized exports worth a total of 5 billion 545 million 622 thousand dollars in 2023. The sector's target for 2023 was to achieve exports worth 6 billion dollars.
