Israel Offers Advanced Early Warning Systems to Ukraine
Israel is set to provide Ukraine with advanced early warning systems to bolster its defenses against Russian missile and drone attacks. These systems will provide the Ukrainian military with a critical capability to detect incoming threats and give civilians timely warning.
"Israel is working to provide early warning systems to help protect Ukraine from Russian missile and drone attacks," said Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, in an address to the UN General Assembly. "We have developed expertise in this field and are ready to share our capabilities with our Ukrainian friends."
The early warning systems offered by Israel use radar and electro-optic sensors to detect and classify missile and drone launches. These systems provide real-time alerts to threatened areas, giving civilians time to seek cover.
Israel's early warning systems have a proven track record of saving lives in conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. The systems have been upgraded to improve their accuracy in targeting specific areas within large cities.
Israeli and Ukrainian officials are working together to deploy the systems, initially in Kyiv and then expanding to other cities. The civilian air alert system is expected to be operational by September.
Israel's early warning systems will significantly enhance Ukraine's air defense capabilities and help protect civilians from the devastating effects of Russian attacks. The systems are part of Israel's ongoing support to Ukraine, which has also included humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and military training.
