Sikorsky, a company under Lockheed Martin, has completed tests of the integrated mission systems and sensors of three MH-60R SEAHAWK® helicopters purchased by the Greek Navy. The tests, completed in early December of 2023, show that each MH-60R aircraft is an effective and efficient air weapons system capable of performing anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare missions from land or sea ship confirmed.
The partnership of the Hellenic Navy with these MH-60R SEAHAWK helicopters, 330 MH-60R and 250 MH-60S SEAHAWK helicopters and the global fleet of BLACK HAWK helicopters enables Sikorsky and the U.S. Navy to continue to maintain and update this proven weapon system for maximum threat deterrence and operational capability,” said Paul Lemmo, President of Sikorsky.
Greece became the seventh country to receive the MH-60R naval helicopter of the US Navy. In Europe, Denmark operates nine MH-60R aircraft. Spain and Norway placed orders for a total of 14 MH-60R aircraft in 2023. The first three MH-60R aircraft will arrive in Greece by transport aircraft of the US Navy in 2024. Four additional aircraft will arrive in 2025 to complete the Greek Navy's purchase of seven aircraft.
The MH-60R aircraft belonging to the Greek Navy will join the existing 11 S-70B SEAHAWK aircraft based at Kotroni Naval Air Base. The older naval helicopters, known as Aegean Hawks, were purchased directly from Sikorsky between 1994 and 2005.
