A New Page in Turkish Aviation History: The Success of KAAN and Botek

The steps taken by Turkey in the defense industry add strength to its strength with domestic and national projects. In this regard, KAAN, the first developed national combat aircraft, said hello to the sky with domestic facilities and contributions from Turkish companies. KAAN, which is part of the National Combat Aircraft Project implemented under the leadership of the Directorate of Defense Industries, which was implemented in Tusash's main contractor, highlights the point at which domestic technology has reached. Kaan's first flight is a landmark for Turkey. One of the Turkish companies that played a role in this success is BOTEK. BOTEK, which develops domestic paints of military standards, plays a critical role in ensuring aesthetics and durability on the outer surface of the KAAN fighter aircraft. In the paint of the aircraft, dominated by shades of gray, BOTEK's ALPAR MIL-PRF-23377 Primer Paint and MIL-PRF-85285 Polyurethane Finishing Aircraft Paints were used. These paints are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions from -55°C to 50°C. For the protection of the aircraft against corrosion and deformation, BOTEK has successfully passed 33 different tests, gaining international accreditation. This success of Botek has not only been limited to the KAAN project, but also to use its paints in many projects in Turkey's defense industry. Besides KAAN fighter aircraft, BOTEK paints are preferred in important defense projects such as ANKA-3, HÜRJET, HÜRKUŞ, GÖKBEY, AKINCI, Bayraktar TB3. This cooperation consolidates the strength and independence of the domestic and national defense industry. On the other hand, Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA's successful sea target shooting test developed by Baykar with ASELFLIR-500 also crowns the achievements of the Turkish defense industry. AKINCI has an important place in the history of Turkish aviation with 40,000 flight hours, while Baykar's export success is also notable. Having achieved significant export figures in the defense and aerospace sector in recent years, Baykar demonstrates Turkey's strength on the world stage.

These developments prove that Turkey has a level of defense industry that can compete in the international arena with domestic and national facilities. The KAAN fighter plane and the paints of Botek go down in history as one of the symbols of national technology.
