What is an ATPL License?

ATPL is an acronym derived from the initials of the English Airline Transport Pilot License, which is the top-level commercial pilot license called “Airline Transport Pilot License” in Turkish. According to the definition made by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM), the most important aviation institution in our country, ATPL: “The license that the pilot responsible for the flight using the aircraft in flight operations carried out for a fee must have is the Airline Transport Pilot License.”

How to Obtain an ATPL License?

Requirements that SHGM looks for in candidates who want to obtain a Commercial pilot license:
To be at least 21 years of age
Graduating from at least a high school or equivalent school
To have a valid 1st class health certificate issued by SHGM
Having successfully completed the theoretical knowledge and flight training required in flight training organizations authorized by SHGM

ATPL Exams


Passing the theoretical knowledge exams
Having the flight experience specified in the regulations
Having a CPL and multi-engine IR
Having taken the MCC course
Having shown that the Candidate does not have a Criminal Record

In addition, the ATPL (A) candidate must fly for at least 1500 hours as an aircraft pilot. It is required that less than 500 hours of this flight time be carried out in a multi-pilot operation. If this is the case, you are entitled to an ATPL license after passing the control flight, which will be carried out at the end of all these trainings.
