Russia (then called the Soviet Union), which for many years led the space race with the United States during the Cold War, continues to be the first in this field today.
The crew of the first feature film to be shot in space was recently successfully sent to the International Space Station on a Soyuz rocket belonging to the Russian Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS) from the Baikonur base in Russia. The team includes Klim Shipenko, director of the film “Vyzov” (Challenge), actor Yuliya Peresild and cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, who will serve on the space station for 6 months.
Klim Shipenko and Yuliya Peresild, who will stay on the space station for 12 days, have also won the title of being the first ordinary Russian citizens that Russia has sent into space. The duo underwent nearly 5 months of special training at the Yuriy Gagarin Cosmonaut Preparation Center prior
to launch.
